Organised under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II, the YCM Explorer Awards La Belle Classe Superyachts have, since 2018, recognised the most forward-thinking yacht owners and the most eco-responsible vessels in the superyacht industry. This prestigious event celebrates innovation, environmental stewardship and the “Art de Vivre la Mer” philosophy.
Today, the electric Sunreef 80 Eco Marie-Joseph was honoured with the YCM Explorer Award 2023 in the Technology & Innovation category. This recognition highlights the vessel’s groundbreaking eco-targeted features and Sunreef Yachts’ commitment to pioneering sustainable solutions in the luxury yachting sector.
Awarded by a distinguished jury of industry professionals, the ceremony presented four prizes to men and women who, as true explorers of tomorrow, embody a forward-looking approach to yachting. Sunreef Yachts Founder and President Francis Lapp accepted the award on behalf of the team, with the Sunreef 80 Eco Marie-Joseph singled out for its impressive range of green innovations.
The jury was particularly impressed by the yacht’s integration of advanced eco-technologies. Key features include Sunreef Yachts’ proprietary “solar skin” system, enabling solar panels to be seamlessly embedded into curved composite structures, a hydrogeneration system capable of producing clean energy while sailing, and a state-of-the-art battery bank offering outstanding performance.
This achievement reflects Sunreef Yachts’ dedication to developing electric yachts and luxury explorer catamarans designed for long-range, emission-free cruising. The shipyard continues to expand its Eco range, offering fully electric propulsion, renewable energy integration, and responsibly sourced materials to meet the demands of modern, environmentally conscious yacht owners.
The YCM Explorer Award 2023 for the Sunreef 80 Eco Marie-Joseph reinforces the brand’s leadership in sustainable innovation and its vision for a cleaner, more responsible future in luxury yachting.
